Arsenal have made their third signing in the current summer transfer market, signing Portuguese youngster Fabio Vieira from Porto, after he signed Brazilian Marquinhos and American goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Arsenal’s new player Fabio Vieira has won many praises from the Gunners fans on social media, who has been likened to former Arsenal player Santi Cazorla.
Fabio Vieira plays in the center of the attacking midfield as a playmaker, and is good at playing with his left foot, and the 22-year-old is characterized by speed and the ability to make decisive passes for his teammates.
Vieira was born in the city of Santa Maria da Vieira, which is 23 kilometers from the city of Porto, and the young Portuguese player grew up in the ranks of the Porto team and played in all age teams of the Portuguese team.
Fabio Vieira played for Porto’s first team in 2020, and helped the team win the Portuguese League for the 2019-2020 season, and in that season he was awarded the Best Young Player of the month for January, and Best Midfielder for the month of April.
Vieira won the European Youth League in the 2017-2018 season, after he scored a goal in the final against Arsenal’s rival Chelsea, in the final that ended with a score of 3-1 for the Portuguese club.
Vieira also won the Portuguese Cup with Porto in the 2021-2022 season, and played in the Champions League with the Portuguese club, as well as making a goal in the European Championship.
The Portuguese playmaker made 14 goals with Porto in the Portuguese league last season, and he also possessed 13 goals in 21 matches he played with the Portugal under-21 team, and he was crowned the best player in the European Under-21 Championship.
He was praised by the UEFA technical team of monitors after being awarded the best player in the European Under-21 Championship: “During the tournament, he was a key player for Portugal, he is a playmaker who creates a lot of chances, and is an excellent link between midfield and attack.”
Mikel Arteta admires the quality of players like Fabio Vieira, because it will be an essential element of the Spanish coach’s plan, because the Gunners miss players of the quality of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, and Arteta said about this in a previous statement: “There are no such players. At the club now, we must resume this cycle, otherwise there will be no more of these players at Arsenal, and they are an important part of any team.”
Fabio Vieira will provide new competition in the Arsenal midfield with players such as Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Martin Odegaard, and the young Portuguese may offer something different as Arsenal look to qualify for the Champions League next season.
